In our production practices and the entire factory, waste and reuse of waste materials are minimized to reflect the environmental protection and energy saving of injection Molded Plastic Parts such as various home appliance plastic parts, industrial plastic parts, agricultural plastic parts, Medical Plastic Parts, and toy plastic parts. Minimizing waste and reusing scraps in our manufacturing practices and throughout our facilities are just two of the many ways we encourage sustainability. Injection molding is a naturally low-waste process, but we still work to limit waste and reuse it when possible.
How much waste does injection molding generate?
Because each cycle only uses the amount of plastic needed to fill the mold, there is little waste in injection molding. There is very little extra space from the plastic entering and passing through the mold that is not part of the finished product (gates, runners and sprues).
How to Reduce Waste from Injection Molding
At HUIWEN Plastic Parts, we take several approaches to reducing waste at every stage of our production process.
Precise mold design
In consultation with the customer, we can design the mold to minimize the amount of plastic used in the injection molding process, such as limiting the number and length of runners and designing gate and ejector pin locations.
Recycling and reusing waste plastics
In most cases, the small amounts of waste plastic produced can be melted down and reused, or ground into pellets as material for future projects.
Can scrap plastic be recycled?
Because injection molding most often uses thermoplastic materials (such as PET, PETE, HDPE, LDPE and ABS), almost all waste plastics from injection molding projects can be recycled and reused. Occasionally, thermosets (such as PVC, silicones, epoxies, and polyurethanes) are used, although the injection molding process for thermosets is somewhat different. Because these plastic formulations cannot be melted back to their original state, they cannot be easily recycled.
At HUIWEN Plastic Parts, reducing our impact on the environment and supporting sustainable development are important parts of our business practices.
